Funeral services for Bernita Jordan, 69, of Bryan, TX and formerly of Wakpala will be at 11 AM, Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the Wakpala Community Center. Burial will be at St. Bede's Catholic Cemetery in Wakpala. A procession will leave Kesling Funeral Home at 5 PM Wednesday for a 7 PM prayer service at the community center. Bernita passed away January 13, 2025, in Bryan, TX.

Bonita Agnes Jordan was born to Lorainne (Crow Feather) and Jacob M. Jordan in Ft. Yates, ND, on December 27, 1955. Bernita was raised be Rose (Yellow) High Eagle and Earl Krause on a ranch 2 miles north of Wakpala. She grew up as a country girl and had love for all animals. She loved to ride horses, listen to her Beatle's records, reading and writing poems in her pastime and enjoyed dancing to the latest moves.

Bernita graduated from Wakpala High School and attended U.T.E.T.C. in Bismarck, ND, and graduated with a business clerical diploma. She acquired a job with BIA in Aberdeen, SD, for several years. She solely raised her only daughter Melanie by herself. She then made the move to Minneapolis, MN, where she also acquired many clerical jobs through the years, Minneapolis American Indian Center, Northwest Airlines, U of M University, Peacemaker Center. In her spare time, she ran to karaoke at two different establishments. Her last employment was with Wells Fargo Bank in Minneapolis. Bernita was loved by all and will greatly be missed  by the people whose lives she touched by her sense of humor and comical attitude.

Bernita is survived by her daughter, Melanie, 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, sisters, Mary Ann Jordan and Gloria Cadotte, brothers, Anthony Stricker, Charles Cadotte and James Cadotte.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, 1 sister, and her baby son (SIDS).
