Funeral Services for Bernadine Little Dog age 51 of Little Eagle will be 1:00 PM Monday, December 18, 2017 at the Little Eagle Blue Gym visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Monday. Interment will be in St. Paul's Episcopal Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge, SD. Bernadine passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at the Fort Yates IHS Hospital.
Bernadine Danelle Little Dog was born at Little Oak Creek, Little Eagle, SD, on April 9, 1966 to the late Norman and Delma (Black Fox) Little Dog. Little Eagle, SD has always been her home. Growing up on Oak Creek Road she enjoyed many things she loved to do. She spoke of all the outdoor fundamentals she would do with her oldest nephew Burton James Little Dog and her cousin Connie Rae Demarrias. They would play by the river, pick wild choke cherries, plums and grapes. They would ride their ponies bareback down to the river and jump in. Indoors she had her mother by her side and also talked of how much time she spent driving around with her dad. She said he would always have goodies that he would buy her.
She attended the old Little Eagle Day School and graduated 8th grade. That fall she entered the McLaughlin High School where she continued her education.
She became pregnant with her first child in 1981. On January 31, 1982 she gave birth to a beautiful daughter the late Brooke Marie Little Dog. After a couple years went by, she gave birth to her second daughter, Brenna Mae Little Dog on May 15, 1984.
Along with her two daughters they moved to Salt Lake City, UT to live with her sister the late Kathleen Roberts and her family.
Shortly after, she moved home to Little Eagle and became eligible for her first housing home in 1985. She married Darwin Yellow Earrings Sr. and within that union she gave birth to two more children. She had given birth to her first born son, Brandon J. Yellow Earrings on September 20, 1985. Then came another daughter Pamela Denelle Yellow Earrings who was born on July 17, 1987.
She reunited with Adrian "Louie" Bobtail Bear and gave birth to three more children. She gave birth to DeAndra Bernice Bobtail Bear on December 19, 1988. LyAnne Thelma Bobtail Bear came next on February 27, 1992. Then her last born a handsome son, Dace Kendall Bobtail Bear, who was born on July 18, 1996.
She was employed at Prairie Knights Casino for eight years. She would always talk of how much she enjoyed her job, her friends at work and the drive.
She took really good care of her home, her mother who lived with her, her daughters and her baby son. She had a huge heart for any of her family members who needed a place to stay or live. She raised her nephew, the late Winfield Kills Crow and cherished her nephews so much. Louie and her did a lot for all who lived within their home. They always made sure their kids and whoever else were ok. Later on she worked at Grand River Casino for a short while. She was full of so much laughter, humor and joy. She was very kind and had a good heart. Her door was always open to any of her family in need.
In her latest years she cherished all of her wonderful grandchildren. She loved cooking for them and made sure they always had a hot meal. She was currently raising her granddaughter, Perri "Winkle" Bobtail Bear and loved her two sisters Lizzy and Jaque endlessly. She will always be remembered so dearly by all her family, friends and relatives for her loving heart and good character.
She is survived by her two sisters, Elizabeth and Jaqueline Little Dog of McLaughlin, brother, Richard Long Feather, her children, Brenna (Edgar) Little Dog, Pamela Yellow Earrings, and Dace Bobtail Bear all of Bismarck, DeAndra and LyAnne Bobtail Bear of Little Eagle, grandchildren, Kendall, Kameron, Kassidy, Brooklyn, Tigh, Reagan, Errickae, Layliyah, Alijah, NyJai, Kadenn, Taylor, Errickelle, Martell, Aydreena, Perri Winkle, Embree, Brennen, Louie and Adrian, all her nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly, adopted daughter, Georgianne Madison II, aunts, Mazie Shelton, Donna Red Legs, Delilah White Shield, Delores Taken Alive, Stella Guggolz, and Rose Sandland. Her good friend of many years Debbie (Myron) Uses Arrow. Along with her companion Wayne "Dewey" Bobtail Bear.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Delma (Black Fox) Little Dog, sisters, Sybil (Little Dog) Foster, LaVerne (Little Dog) Picotte and Kathleen (Little Dog) Roberts, brother Norman Little Dog Jr., daughter, Brooke Marie Little Dog, son, Brandon J. Yellow Earrings, niece, Johnna Foster, grandson, Artell Bobtail Bear, the fathers to her children, Adrian "Louie" Bobtail Bear, and Darwin Yellow Earrings, also a wonderful companion of 12 years, Shawn William Skinner Sr.
