Betty passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, Gilbert, AZ.

Betty was born on December 1, 1933 on her parent's farm near Herreid, SD, and was the youngest daughter and the 6th child of Joe and Mary E. (Heid) Brandner. Betty married Raymond P. Senftner on July 29th, 1952. This union produced 3 sons, William (who passed in 1996) and Robert and Michael who reside in Arizona.

Betty graduated from Herreid High School in 1951. She worked at the Good Samaritan nursing home in Herreid from 1975-2002 where she was very well liked and appreciated for her hard work. She raised 3 very active and busy sons during that time. Friends and cousins of theirs share fond memories of Betty who made "the best lasagna" "cookies" and "really good rice crispy bars". She loved to garden and play cards (Pinochle being a favorite game) and enjoyed playing cards throughout her life with her sisters & friends that she was very close to. She enjoyed trips to Deadwood on occasion and enjoyed yearly trips to AZ to see her sons, daughter-in-law and grandchildren.

She was very involved and active in the Catholic Church and embraced her faith. She was a very caring person and as one sister in law shared, "she was the soothing one". "You could go to her for advice and she would comfort you." She had a very funny wit to her that would sometimes make people laugh out loud. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, and was loved deeply by her spouse of 55 years (until he passed in 2009). Her death was unexpected, which makes it more difficult, and she will be missed by all who knew her. Her sons and daughter in law always knew she was just a phone call away to provide a listening and caring ear. She was extremely close to her niece Julie (Seiler) Trigg whom she and her husband called "the daughter they never had".

She is survived by her two sons and one daughter-in-law: Robert Senftner, of Chandler, AZ, (her Grandson Kegan), Michael Senftner (Bonnie) of Mesa, AZ (her Grandsons Luke & Tyler), two great grandsons Jayden & Rowan, two brothers and sisters-in-law: Clem and Angie Brandner of Bismarck, ND, Walter and Marianne Brandner of Dell Rapids, SD; and three sisters: Genevieve Kightlinger of Selby, SD, Lois Seiler of Herreid, SD, & Florence Wittmeier of Herreid, SD, numerous caring nieces and nephews, and her many, many friends in Herreid, SD where she lived her entire life and felt the love and support of the community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Mary, her husband Raymond P. Senftner, her son William Senftner, and her brother Albertus "Bert" Brandner. "See you in the funnies, Ma, we will be with you again in the blink of an eye".
