Mass of Christian Burial for Barbara Welder, 97, of Mobridge will be 3:00 PM Monday, August 8, 2016 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mobridge. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation is Sunday, August 7, 2016 beginning at 2:00 PM at the church hall followed by a Scriptural Wake Service and Rosary at 3:00 in the Church. Barbara passed away Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.

Barbara Zahn was born in Hague, ND to Joseph and Magalenne (Schmidt) Welder on March 1, 1919. She grew up in Hague and later moved to Bismarck, ND where she worked for Woolworths for five years.
On June 17, 1946 she married Mike Welder in Hague, ND. They moved to Glencross, SD where they farmed for many years. Barbara enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening and canning. She was an excellent homemaker, canning her own produce and making jellies and jams.
They moved to Mobridge, SD in 1985. Barbara volunteered at the nursing home and also at her church being a lector and a Eucharistic minister. She cared for Mike up to the time of his death from cancer on March 7, 1991.

Barbara is survived by her children; Mike (Judy) Bismarck, ND, Mary Ellen (Bob) Talsma, Norfolk, NE, David of Gettysburg, SD, Tom (Mary Ann) Wilton, ND, Marty (Anne) Gillette, WY, Geri (Jim) Winge, Fort Dodge, IA, Helen (Mark) Salzer, Gillette, WY, Bill (Susan), Milbank, SD, Bob of South Shore, SD, also her 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and one sister Tillie, living in Canada.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Mike a grandson, Matt and 11 brothers and sisters.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed towards St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hauge, ND for a new roof.
