Autrey "Art" Jochim passed away Saturday, March 9th, 2019 at Sanford Hospital in Bismarck, North Dakota after courageously battling pneumonia for two weeks and complications of Multiple Myeloma.

Mass of Christian Burial for Art Jochim, 75, of Selfridge will be at 10 AM, Saturday, March 23, 2019 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Ft. Yates. Visitation will be from 1-3 PM Friday at Kesling Funeral Home and with a Scriptural Wake service at 6 PM at the church in Fort Yates. Friends and family are graciously invited to dinner at the PKC Pavilion immediately following funeral services on Saturday.


Art was born on September 26th, 1943 to Jake and Katie (Laintz) Jochim from Selfridge, ND. The youngest of 6 brothers and sisters, Art spent his childhood and early years growing up on his parent's farm, west of Selfridge, ND.

Art married Delores "Sweety" Byington Gipp on November 23 rd , 1968. Together they raised over 15 children.

Art was a successful rancher for more than 50 years. Art was also a man of many trades. He was a self-taught dairy farmer, carpenter, welder, electrician, mechanic, house mover, construction truck driver and fixer of anything and everything


Art loved going to local auction sales. Art also loved to visit and joke with people at auctions, livestock sales or anywhere he came across "someone he hadn't seen in years".

Art is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Delores "Sweety" Jochim, daughters: Linda (Keith) Bundy, Underwood, ND, Wahnita Hernandez, Bismarck, ND Kathleen (Jim) Daum, Santa Fe, New Mexico, Crystal (Thomas) Jochim, Selfridge, ND, Violet (Kody) Fox, Bismarck, ND, Samantha Summers, Bismarck, ND and Cassandra Big Track, Selfridge, ND. Sons: George (Roberta) Gipp, Fort Yates, ND, Charlie Gipp, Santa Fe, New Mexico, LeLewis (Jana) Gipp, Fort Yates, ND, Nelson Gipp, Bismarck, ND, Patrick (Zadida) Bridgeford, Sacramento, California, Curtis (Robin) Jochim. Also over 25 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, brothers, Rich (Marge) Jochim, Vancover, Washington and Jack Jochim, Vancover, Washington.

Preceding him in death were his daughter, Clarice Jochim, son, Elton Kills Crow, parents, Jake and Katie Jochim, brother, Leo Jochim, sisters, Dorothy Mosset and Alvina Dobler.
