Arnie passed away Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.
Arnold Dean Roebuck, 69, of Mobridge, South Dakota, was born October 13, 1956, in Mobridge to Milton and Jean (Swanson) Roebuck. He passed away suddenly on January 22, 2026, at Mobridge Regional Hospital from an aneurysm.
Arnold's family moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, then to Timber Lake before settling in Mobridge. He attended Glenham School and later Mobridge Junior High. As a young man, he helped on the family farm and worked at several jobs, including Shirley Sales, the railroad, power line work, Thorstenson Trucking, and Java Equity, before beginning what he truly loved—trucking.
In 1976, Arnold met the real love of his life, Patty Litschewski. They were married four years later in 1980 and together raised four children. Their first son, Jesse Dean, was followed by Timothy Ryan, then their daughter Jennifer Elizabeth, and seven years later their final blessing, Jason Jacob.
Arnold's only real regret in life was not being home enough to spend time with his family. When he began working for Thorstenson Trucking, he decided to change that by loading the kids into the truck and taking them along during the summers. He loved every minute of it.
In 2004, Arnold bought his own truck and trailers and began hauling grain. Soon he added a hay trailer and later a cattle pot. Although he often said he wasn't a people person, he truly enjoyed going to customers' places to haul because he loved visiting with them. He had a strong work ethic and took pride in making sure every job was done right and done on time. When he wasn't driving truck, he was out on the farm working on tractors, finding a way to make things work, putting up hay, feeding cows, or dropping everything to help one of the kids with a project.
Life became even better when the grandchildren began arriving. Arnold never changed a diaper for his own children, but the grandkids were a different story. As they grew older, the family began taking vacations together—zoos, water parks, and discovery centers—but the most meaningful trip came in 2023. Years earlier, while hauling grain through Shakopee, Minnesota, Arnold had promised the kids that someday they would go to Valleyfair. In 2023, he finally fulfilled that promise. The trip became one of their most treasured memories, filled with laughter, play fighting, and Arnold proudly being the instigator of the noice.
When Arnold and Patty first started dating, he once asked her if, should they ever break up, she would still travel with him. She said yes. Years later, that promise came true. They bought a van, towed a motorcycle behind it, and began traveling together on many adventures. Summers were often spent in the hills with Lonnie and Charlene Perman, riding bike and playing lots of mini golf, and meeting up with LaVonne and Jeff Dietrich and Richard and Nancy Litschewski for afternoons of riding and evenings of laughter. In the winters, they headed south to enjoy adventures with his sister and brother-in-law, Jeff and LaVonne Dietrich.
Arnold loved spending time with his family hunting, shooting prairie dogs, and occasionally fishing. He enjoyed playing cards on the computer and had a coin obsession, always searching for the one that was going to make him rich.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patty Roebuck; sons Jesse Roebuck of Pierre, South Dakota; Tim (Tiffany) Roebuck of Mobridge; Jason Roebuck of Mobridge; and daughter Jennifer Gorsuch of Mobridge; and twelve grandchildren: Kate and Brody Mullet, Archer, Oliver, Tyler, Trever, Thea, Tanner, Kelsie Roebuck, and Jackson, Ariana, and Jasper Gorsuch, Brother and sisters, Brenda Roebuck of Sioux Falls, Tracy(Jody) of Mobridge, John (Sheri) Roebuck Wolsey SD and Glen(Ruth) Roebuck of Huron.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Jean Roebuck, and one grandson, Corbin.
Arnold will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of hard work, devotion to family, and quiet generosity will live on.
