Arlene Gloria (Comes) McBride, 66, passed away October 27, 2019 at Avera McKennon Hospital, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. A prayer service will be at 5 PM, Saturday, November 9, 2019, at the Lakota Chapel in Pierre. Inurnment will be at Good Shepherd Episcopal Cemetery in Little Eagle.

Arlene was born August 12, 1953 in Hot Springs, SD. A daughter of Clarence Comes and Martina Red Legs. She received her education in McLaughlin, SD and the Pierre Indian Learning Center.

She worked at Lode Star Casino and Golden Buffalo Casino. She enjoyed baking and taking care of her grandchild. She had a big heart for people. She loved joking around, and making people laugh and doing various imitations of famous people.

She met Tim Swimmer II in 1967. Together they had two children. They later separated. She married Arnold Howe Sr. in 1971. They had five kids and made their home in Big Bend, SD. They later separated. Arlene moved to Pierre, SD, where she resided with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her sons, Jake Swimmer, Lee Howe, daughters, Carla Howe, Teah Howe, Andrea Suarez, and Lorna Howe, sisters, Iris Dewey, Pearl Left Hand, Roselyn Lee, Teresa Comes,  Grandchildren, Danielle Espino, Brenlyn, Brenden, and Shayla Howe, Kyanne and Tyanne Redwater, Tyson Azure, Tyler and Kingston Driftwood, Erick, Selina, Cesar, Sandra Suarez, Isabella and Sofia Garcia, great grandchildren, Abela Nayeli Lopez, Aiyana Maria Granados, Jose Alfredo Granados Jr., Kinzley and Jason Howe, Khia and Kimmimila Redwater and many more.

Arlene is preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Howe Sr. father, Clarence Comes, mother Martina Red Legs, sons, Tim Swimmer III, and Arnold Howe Jr., brothers, Steven White Thunder, Donald Comes, Zach Comes, Donovan Comes, half-sisters, Ethel Comes, Serina Hatt, and Jackie Hatt.
