Ardie was born June 28th, 1939, to Olger and Ernestina Carlson in Mobridge, South Dakota. Her and her twin brother Arlen grew up north and east of Firesteel, SD on the family farm, where she milked cows, butchered chickens and had adventures with her brother. She went to country school then attended high school in Timber Lake, graduating in 1957. She attended college in Brookings for a short time, spent some time in Aberdeen and ended up working for Kesling’s in Timber Lake. She married Doug Scott, the son of Dale and Jesse Scott, May 27th, 1960, in Pierre, SD. Doug worked for various electrical companies, and they ended up in Timber Lake, with him working for Moreau Grand. They bought a power line construction company in 1970. Doug built power lines and Ardie did the books and worked for the post office. Doug sold Scott’s Construction to Jim Boldt in 1983 and went into ranching and farming. Ardie started in the post office in 1967, became postmaster in 1987, and retired in 1997. She was also one of the first to be trained as an EMT from Timber Lake and worked on the ambulance crew from 1978 to 1998.

They had 5 children, Keith (Marilyn) Gettysburg, SD, Terri (Gerald) Ketchikan, Alaska, Arlen (Ann) Aberdeen, SD, Shari (Eric) Cambridge, Minnesota, Jason (Kristen) LaMars, Iowa. They had 18 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. These survive her as well as her sister-in-law Nancy Scott of Rapid City. She is preceded in death by her brother, parents and husband.

Ardith lost her brother in 1962 at the age of 22. She lost the love of her life Doug in 2016. Both greatly changed her life. She had a great spirit and faith. She loved her family, and her community.
