Obituary

Funeral services for April Callousleg, 64, of Mandan will be held at 1:30 PM, Friday, May 17, 2024, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in McLaughlin. Burial will be at the Messiah Cemetery, Little Eagle, under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Redeemer Lutheran in McLaughlin with a prayer service at 7:00 PM, followed by an all-night wake service.  April passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck.

April Callousleg was born to Francis B. Callousleg and Virginia (White Shield) Callousleg on April 23, 1960.

April's favorite team was the UND Fighting Sioux. April enjoyed spending time with her sisters, nieces, nephew, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She always had a smile on her face. She loved to make other people laugh. April enjoyed life to the fullest.

In 1976, April met Allen DeCoteau in Fargo, North Dakota and to this union, Lakota Callousleg was born. In 1978, April met David Lee and to this union AJ (Angel Face) and Nova Lee (Baby Girl) were born. April then met Peter Spotted Horse in 1983, and to this union, her only son, Amiel Spotted Horse was born. In 1990, April met Bobby Allen in Minneapolis, Minnesota and they were later married. April and Bobby enjoyed traveling together, made jewelry together and enjoyed life to its fullest.

April is survived by her daughters; Lakota Callousleg, April Lee, Nova Lee, son, Amiel Spotted Horse, grandchildren, April Shootingstar, Brandon, Alana, Attila, KP, Wallace, Jolon, Dyani, Arlee, Amiel Jr., Adam, Asher, Ashton, Aidan, Andrew, Pearl, Gus, Anthony, Lakota Jr., Annamay, Michael and 6 great-grandchildren, sisters, Philomene Callousleg, Nikki, and Gena, Lisa nieces; Nicole Callousleg, Virginia, Dakotah, Amanda, Rose, Cecelia, Autumn and nephews; Hokie Callousleg, JJ, Dave, Jonah, Vincent and cousins, husband, Bobby Allen and special friend Gary Stately

April is preceded in death by her parents, Francis B. Callousleg and Virginia (White Shield) Callousleg, grandparents, granddaughter, Angel Mea Jean Spotted Horse, brothers; Alvis Callousleg, Vincent Callousleg, Edward Callousleg, Lyle Callousleg,  3 nieces; Justine Standing Crow, Gina Callousleg, Barbara Little Whiteman, sisters; Benedicta Ewaliko, Damita Callousleg, Sugar Martin.
