Annette Marie Herren (Maynard) ,54, was born October 14, 1967 in Eagle Butte, South Dakota, to Mary Lu Rousseau & Ronald Maynard, she made her final journey to the spirit world February 10, 2021 in Toronto South Dakota.

She grew up with 3 older brothers Wayne, Preston and CL. As the youngest of 4, and the only girl, she had no choice but to be tough. She was a survivor from a young age, never prissy, not afraid to get dirty. She was strong and independent.

Annette spent all of her childhood between Eagle Butte, Denver and Sturgis. As a young girl she loved gymnastics and excelled at the sport. When Annette was a teen she moved to Denver to be closer to her mom, step dad and little sister. While in Denver, she attended Junior High before deciding to spread her wings a little further and travel.

As a young adult Annette found love, got married and moved to Ruidoso, NM then El Paso, TX where her two children (Laca Jae & Tylor Allen) were born. Annette loved animals her entire life, so along with her kids, she had a "fur baby", a not so small Doberman she lovingly called Roxy. Roxy spent 18 years by Annette's side. While in TX Annette earned her GED and got a business certificate.

Annette eventually found her way back to South Dakota, single with her two young children to raise. She settled in Eagle Butte for a time and was happy to be closer to her South Dakota family.

Annette was a free spirit. She loved to travel, see new places, try new things and meet people. Her adventurous spirit and outgoing personality made bartending easy for her. So it makes perfect sense that Annette spent most of her life bartending where she could be social and meet new people. She made friends everywhere she went, she was able to disarm even the most difficult people and make them feel at home - no matter where they were.

Annette always rooted for the underdog and would protect anyone she felt didn't get a fair shake. If she called you a friend you were lucky. She was fiercely loyal and protective of those she loved. This included her animals, she always had a dog by her side.

Annette was opinionated and was not afraid to tell you how she felt. Right, wrong or indifferent - you always knew where you stood with her.  She was real and she was always herself.

She made life long friends wherever she went. She loved the outdoors, she loved to fish, camp and garden. Annette was a phenomenal cook and she loved feeding people. No one left her house hungry.

Annette loved to shop and was sure to browse thrift stores no matter where her journeys took her. She loved jewelry, she wore rings on every finger, several necklaces and had earrings to go with everything in her closet. She was anything but plain - she was beautiful both inside and out.

Annette had a strong spirit. If you met her you remembered her, she was beautiful inside and out and simply unforgettable.

Annette is survived by her children: Laca Jae Pereau (Zach Anderson) & Tylor Allen Pereau her grandchildren Urijah (10), Mary Lu (3) and Casey, (Mother of Grandchildren) Danielle Birdhorse . Her father Ronald Maynard, Brothers Wayne Maynard, Preston Maynard (Lisa) and Sister Kelly Michelle Chavez (Julian).

She is preceded in death by her mother Mary Lu Rousseau, her brother CL Maynard, nephew Lorenzo Wanbli Chavez and many other friends and relatives.

The family would like to invite you to her services at Kesling Funeral home (1201 W Grand Crossing Mobridge, SD), Saturday February 20th at 11 am with a reception/feed immediately following at the Legion in Mobridge, SD (120 Main St Mobridge, SD 57601).
