March 20, 1934 – January 17, 2024
Funeral services for Anna Sjomeling, 89, of Pollock will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at the Pollock Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge. Visitation will start at 5 PM Monday with a prayer service at 6 PM at the church. Anna passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Billings Clinic Hospital in Billings, MT.
Anna (Ryckman) Sjomeling was born March 20 1934, to Carl and Rena (Plaggemeyer) Ryckman on a farm near Westfield, ND. She thought her grandmother delivered her, not sure of which one. She was the 4th of 8 children. She married Leslie Sjomeling in Westfield in July of 1952. They did some traveling from Washington state to Deadwood, SD before settling in Mobridge to raise their growing family. During her years in Mobridge, she drove taxi, worked at the plastic factory (until they closed) and JCPenny. After Les was transferred to MDU in Ellendale, ND she worked a short time at a care center before another transfer to Bismarck, ND. While in Bismarck she again went to work for JCPenny where she eventually retired. Les and Anna divorced in the 1980's. Anna married Anerd Berg in Bismarck. They loved to travel by motorhome throughout the United States. After Anerd's death she wintered in Texas a few years and then Mesa for the last 20 years with her fiancé Ed Klatt.
Anna is preceded in death by Leslie, Anerd and Ed, also her parents, sister, Dorothy (Huizenga) brothers, Elmer, Willis, Eddie (Carl Edward) twins, Gerald and Geraldine, sister, Angeline, a baby died at birth, son, Leslie (Mike), daughter, Bonnie and first grandchild, Tracey. She was also preceded in death by special son in law, Lester Kosters.
Anna is survived by her sister, Luella Ritter, daughters, Cindy Sandmeier, Janet Kosters, Jackie (Bob) Vetsch, and son, Kenny Sjomeling, grandchildren, Shawn, Tim, Jim, Michael, Tony, Tina, Travis, Teri, BJ, Anna, Matthew, Cheryl, Mike, Brian, and Jason, and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
