Funeral services for Anna Kost age 89 of Aberdeen will be 10:00 AM MST Saturday, February 28, 2015 at United Church of Christ in Eagle Butte. Burial will be in the Eagle Butte Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Anna passed away, Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.

Anna was born February 19, 1926 to Steve and Helen (Burshtin) Kost of Eagle Butte, SD. She attended the Busy Bee rural school and graduated from Eagle Butte High School in 1945. She then moved to St. Paul, MN, where she worked at Western Electric and in the Montgomery Ward's payroll department until retiring in 1986 at age 60. In 1999 Anna moved to Fairmont, MN. In August of 2014 she returned to South Dakota.
Anna pursued all her activities with grace and a sense of beauty. As a youngster, she was a talented artist, and in her later life maintained an elegant home, beautiful flower gardens, and always dressed with style.

In 1988 she traveled overseas for eighteen days, to six countries. In Russia she was only eight miles from her folks' birthplace, a sentimental experience for her.
Anna's personality was outgoing, optimistic, and open-hearted. Beneath her easy-going manner, however, she also had a shrewd business sense and managed her financial affairs quite successfully.

Anna was a beloved aunt to all her nieces and nephews. She endeared herself to her sisters-in-law. Anna regularly sent birthday and graduation cards, never missing a special occasion in the lives of her family.

Anna had a special love of animals. She always owned one or two cats, enjoyed putting out seed for the birds, and was a regular supporter of the Humane Society.
Anna was a lifelong Christian and a member Holy Trinity Orthodox Church.

Anna is survived by her sister-in-law Betty Lou Kost of Eagle Butte, nieces Renee' (Bill)Sutton of Bonesteel, SD, Judy (Martin) Albl of Aberdeen, SD, Melissa (Doug) Maher of Eagle Butte, SD; nephews Butch (Renee') Kost of Amarillo, TX, Steve Kost of Pierre, SD, John Kost of Eagle Butte SD, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Stephan, John, Anton, and Fred Kost, an infant sister, sister-in-law Marie Kost, nephew Kenneth Kost, an infant niece and infant twin nephews; and devoted companion Harold Abel of Fairmont, MN.
