IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Andy
Niccum
January 26, 1965 – December 25, 2023
Memorial services for Andy Niccum, 58, of Herreid will be at 10 AM, Saturday, December 30, 2023, at the Herreid Community Center. Andy passed away Monday, December 25, 2023, at the Mobridge Regional Hospital. Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge is in charge of arrangements.
Andy Lee Niccum was born January 26, 1965, to Allen and Velma (Laughter) Niccum in Portales, New Mexico.
Andy spent most of his time working. From the time he could walk, he worked at his family ranch. He went to school in Clayton, New Mexico and worked at McClure's station.
Andy was ready to head to the big city, Dalhart, Texas, where he built grain bins for Tim Daily. He also tried his hand at Welch Grain but wasn't happy. So, with the help from his good friend, Butch, he obtained his CDL and started his long truck driving career with Poole Chemical.
Andy relocated to South Dakota and hauled breeding stock pigs for companies like West Brothers out of North Carolina, Brown Integrated Logistics of Lithonia, Georgia and Larson Transportation in Michigan. Eight years of the smell was enough, so he hopped on the cattle truck with CBK Express in Norfolk, Nebraska, he was very happy.
Age started creeping up and he was ready to stay closer to home with his family. He got with his friend, Dennis and started running grain for Mitzel and Sons.
Family and Friends always came first in Andy's life. He was always making sure everyone's needs were taken care of before his own. On his days off, he would go around and check in with his friends and also catch up on the things going on in town.
Andy's greatest pleasure was playing tickle monster with his grandkids, working on his old Chevy pickup, and talking about trucks. He loved fishing, hunting, and raising calves.
Andy is survived by his wife Rene of Herried, daughters, Sasha Perry of Dalhart, Texas, ShoShawna (Andy) Heidrich of Manda, North Dakota, LaKota (Josh) Riddle of Herreid and Andrea Goehring of Elk City, Oklahoma. Grandchildren Cameron, Christian and Blaine Perry, Tristan Ruppanner, Jasper Carter, Emersen and Kylee Goehring, Letty and Ellie May Heidrich. Adopted grandchildren Ashton and Makia and Great grandchildren Oaklynn, Autumn and Raymond Perry.
Andy is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Cynthia Vandiver, brother, Elmer Niccum, first wife Joy (Hobbs) Niccum and granddaughter, Angel Riddle.
A memorial service will be held at the Herreid Community Center at 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 30, 2023. Andrew Van Kuren will be on hand for our spiritual needs.
