Ambrose Hosie Jr, passed away April 12, 2019 at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck. He was born in Elbowoods, ND on March 22, 1942 to Ambrose Hosie Sr. and Tena Justine (Waters) Hosie. His grandparents were Levi and Hattie Waters and George and Lottie Hosie and was raised in Nishu until it was flooded and relocated to White Shield. He attended boarding school in Marty, SD and graduated from White Shield High School. He went on to college in Aberdeen and graduated from the Aberdeen School of Commerce and from Northern State College as well. He majored in business administration which would lead him into his early career in the BIA in Aberdeen shortly after graduation. He met and married Margaret Agard in Aberdeen on March 12, 1969 before moving to Garrison, ND and accepted a position at the ASCS Office located there. He worked there for 18 years. After that he moved to New Town, ND and worked for the Three Affiliated Tribes for approximately 15 years in different positions including Small Loans and the Independence program until retiring in 2012. After retirement he moved to McIntosh, SD to enjoy the rest of his years.
Ambrose was a dedicated man to his family and was a very proud grandparent. He loved horses and riding for many years and supplied bucking horses for rodeos as an interest. His other interests included golf, bowling, hunting and farming in his younger years and playing cards; especially poker. He made many friends at the poker or card table and one of his favorite things to do at the end of his life was go to Isabel and play cards. He loved his Green Bay Packers and will be wearing his favorite jersey while he makes his journey. He enjoyed visiting his relatives and friends and if you were related you knew that with him. He was always joking or teasing with someone mercilessly.
Ambrose lived a simple life and his dedication to his family was a priority and seemed to be a no nonsense man but had a heart of gold and helped anyone who asked him. He was a source of guidance that will be missed so much by his family.
