Alvina was born on October 4, 1941, in Fort Yates, North Dakota, to Alvin Elk Nation and Lucy Rose Mutchler Elk Nation.

Alvina was a proud country girl with a strong spirit and an even stronger heart. Growing up, she helped raise her brothers and sisters, embracing that responsibility with love, steadiness, and maturity beyond her years. She graduated from high school in the late nineteen fifties and remained active and energetic throughout her life.

As a young adult, Alvina discovered her love for playing softball, and she enjoyed staying involved with the game whenever she could. She later moved to Denver, where she attended college and earned a degree in secretarial work, an accomplishment she was proud of and carried with her in her professional life.

Alvina had a deep love for cooking and baking, always filling her home with the comfort of good food and the warmth of family. She also had a lifelong admiration for eagles, finding meaning and inspiration in their strength and grace.

Alvina was a tough rancher, unafraid of hard work and committed to the land she and her husband Brent cared for together. The two of them made their life west of Bullhead, where they lived and ranched side by side for many years.

Alvina is survived by sisters, Marilyn Elk Nation of Minnesota, Geraldine Elk Nation of Sisseton, brother, Raymond Elk Nation & Family of Rapid City, Mark (Marissa) Elk Nation Sr. and children Amos, Pearl., Mark Jr., Desiree, Marie, Mike Elk Nation, son Robert Elk Nation, family Rose Long Chase, Anna Long Chase, Jackie Brown Otter.

Alvina is preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Lucy Elk Nation, her husband, Brent Long Chase, daughter, Roxanne Long Chase, and sons, Cody Long Chase and Terry Elk Nation, her brother Bergen Elk Nation, sister Evangeline Fast Horse, and great grand mother Blanche Mutchler.
