Funeral services for Alvin Arpan, age 67, of Selby and formerly of Eagle Butte will be at 10 AM MT, Monday, February 22, 2010 at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Whitehorse. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Alvin passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at the Selby Good Samaritan Center.



Alvin D. Arpan was born on May 20, 1942 to Antone "Swap" and Amy (LeBeau) Arpan at the Old Cheyenne Agency, South Dakota. He attended grade school at the Old Agency and graduated in 1962 from Eagle Butte. In March of 1965 he enlisted in the US Army. He was discharged in July of 1968.



Alvin married Michal Means in Dallas, TX on August 3, 1965.



Alvin is survived by his special niece, Helen Arpan of Mobridge, wife, Michal Arpan of Lame Deer, MT, three daughters, Audrey Arpan of Lame Deer, MT, Adrienne McCarthy of San Diego, CA, and Lollie Hyland of Moorhead, MN, eight grandchildren, Tavia, Teyvian, Logan, Capri, Jaymen, Brea, Adrien and Shenoa, one sister, Lenora (Melvin) Jackson of Rapid City, SD, two brothers, Albert "Swap" (Roslynn) Arpan of Gettysburg, SD, and Wesley Arpan of Denver, Colorado, nieces and nephews, Sharon (Chuck) LeCompte, Elaine (Sebastian II) LeBeau, Alberta (Roland) Fiedler, Ramona Arpan, Lenny Yellow Bird, Cheryl Arpan, Sioux Allen Arpan, Chris Arpan, Terry Arpan, Albert Arpan Jr., Delbert Arpan, Darin Arpan and Violet Aragon.



He was preceded in death by his parents, nephew, Christopher Arpan, uncles, Steve Arpan and Allen Arpan.



Casketbearers will be Albert Arpan Jr., Delbert Arpan, Terry Arpan, Chris Arpan, Lawrence Lind III, Cameron Arpan, Daniel Lessert, Richard Walters, Robert Walters, and Teyvian Arpan.



Honorary casketbearers will be Ione Lee, Velma Lee, Clayton Arpan, Selby Good Samaritan Staff, Denise Donovan, Class of 1962 EBHS and all Alvin's relatives and friends.
