Memorial services for Alma Slater, age 77, of Mobridge will be at 10 AM, Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mobridge. Inurnment will be at the Lutheran Cemetery in McLaughlin under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Alma passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.
Alma Slater was born on May 27, 1935 North of McLauglin on the family farm to Adolph and Kathryn Dietterle. She attended school and graduated from McLaughlin HS in 1953.
On August 8th, 1953, she married Carroll Slater in Aberdeen, SD. The couple lived on the family farm until 1962 then owned and managed the Slater/John Deere Implement until 1967 which then they purchased the
Mobil Bulk Dealership from John Schmidt, becoming Slater Oil & LP Gas Company until present.
Alma was a member of the UCC and Redeemer Lutheran Church in McLaughlin for over 50 years. After moving to Mobridge in 2003, she attended Trinity Lutheran Church were she became a member.
She enjoyed her morning coffee outings, card days and spent many years bowling in Wednesday afternoon league.
She took great and caring pleasure in her family, church, friends and adored all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She strived to attend as many of their activities as possible.
Survivors include her daughter, Lori (Mike) Slater Cox of PA, two sons, Brad (Jennifer), of MO, Kent (Kristi), Mobridge and 6 grandchildren, Korena (Eric), Lance (Leann), Tyson, Kenzie, Jordan, Callie and 2 great
grandchildren, Treston and Braedyn. Sisters, Dee Lauinger, Gladys Bardwell, Marlene (Mike) Kurle, Cindy (Claude) Kraft, and a brother Roger Dietterle.
