A Tribute service to Allen Berens, age 58, of Glenham will be at 7 PM, Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge. Pastor Dale Hamre will be officiating. Visitation will begin at 4 PM at the funeral home. Allen passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014 at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck.

Allen Joseph Berens was born on April 26, 1955 in Mobridge to Eddie and Pauline (Aberle) Berens. He attended Pershing Country School till the eighth grade and then Selby High School, graduating in 1973. Following high school he farmed with his father. In 1973 Allen married Sandy Ritter. In 1974 Allen bought the Sam Merkel farm and has resided there ever since. He worked for Harvest States for a number of years before helping out on the family farm again. He also had his own semi and hauled hay for a number of years. While working at Harvest States and hauling hay he became quite aquatinted with the county basically knowing where everyone's place was. Allen married Deb Stulken on July 1, 1989. Allen bartended at numerous places including New Evarts and Hogie's. He was also a guide for hunting and fishing.

Every chance Allen had he would spend it hunting, fishing or spending time with friends. His specialty was PR and getting to know everyone. He enjoyed playing pool and played softball for many years. He really enjoyed playing with his nieces and nephews and had special nicknames for all of them.

Allen is survived by his parents, Eddie and Pauline Berens of Selby, seven brothers and sisters, Ron (Pat) Berens of Glenham, Sylvia (Tom) Miklos of Selby, Mary (Kevin) Holgard of Glenham, Jean (Bob) Silva of Folsom, CA, Mark (Linda) Berens of Colorado Sprigs, CO, Jason (Laurel) Berens of Selby and Marlin (Jessica ) Berens of Glenham, step-son, Caleb Stulken of Sioux Falls, twenty nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Honorary bearers will be all Al's family, friends and hunting and fishing buddies.
