Funeral services for Alice K. Schaffer, age 63, of Mound City will be at 2 PM, Friday, August 26, 2011 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Mound City. Burial will be in the Mound City Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Thursday at the church. Alice passed away Monday, August 22, 2011 at the Bowdle Hospital.
Alice Kay Schaffer was born on January 8, 1948 to Dell and Celia (Sahli) Hall in Aberdeen. She grew up in Aberdeen and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School. On July 2, 1971 she married Walter Schaffer. Following their marriage they made their home on his farm near Mound City where she has since resided.
Alice was involved in her church in Ladies Aid and as a Sunday School teacher. She was also a 4-H leader for a number of years and in the Extension Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, playing with her grandsons, crocheting, gardening and baking.
Alice is survived by her husband, Walter of Mound City, daughter, Tina (Mike) Dangel of Lake Andes, SD, grandsons, Bradley and Luke, father, Dell Hall of Aberdeen, brother, Darwin (Reatha) Hall of Aberdeen, and sister, Rose (Jim) Russell of Nebo, NC.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Celia Hall.
