Alfred Biegler, passed away on April 28th, 2016 and entered into the presence of the Lord. Alf was born Feb, 2nd, 1930 to Mary (Tschosik) & Ben Biegler in rural Dewey County about 6 miles west of Timber Lake. The following years they moved 3 miles east of Firesteel where they lived until 1939. He attended Firesteel School through 3rd grade. The family then moved about 2 miles east to the present location of the Alan & Jiggs Biegler farm. Alfred attended the rural Sprick school through grade 8. He finished his 9th year of high school and then continued to work for his dad farming until he was married.
Alfred asked Mary Scherer to marry him Feb 14th, 1952. They married Sept 1st, 1952 at the Holy Cross Church in Timber Lake. Shortly after their marriage Alf & Mary purchased a farm 3 miles north of Firesteel. They lived there for 5 years until they purchased the Nick and Mayme Scherer farm 2.5 miles SW of Timber Lake. This is where they spent the next 50 years and raised 13 brats ...Alf's terminology! His love for Mary was often professed at home. He showed his love in many ways & always celebrated their engagement by delivering a large heart shaped box of chocolates to Mary every Valentine's Day.
Alf was an ardent farmer and livestock producer both of sheep and cattle. He spent many hours driving through pastures & feedlots on the land he called "the Sanderosa", checking rain gauges, and talking about crops, cattle, & the weather. He was at home attending a livestock auction, playing a game of cards or attending church. Alf was deeply devoted to his wife & family. Each day before leaving home he did two things: embraced his wife & said a prayer. Alf had an unwavering faith in God as was witnessed and taught to his children. He was tough on his sons and daughters and expected them to use "that thing between their ears!" Words of emotion were few, but Alf loved and was extremely proud of his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Mary (Scherer) Biegler, and 12 of their children Julie (Adrian) Crance, of Spokane, WA.
