Funeral services for Aldine Mittleider, 77, of Herreid, SD will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022 at 10:30 AM at the Herreid Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM Thursday at the church with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Interment under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge will be at the Herreid City Cemetery. Aldine died on Monday, April 25, 2022 at the Linton Hospital.

Aldine Duane Mittleider was born on December 17, 1944 to Walter and Leah (Sayler) Mittleider in Mobridge, SD. He attended school in Herreid and graduated from Herreid High School in 1963. After graduation, he stayed home and farmed with his parents. Aldine was united in marriage to Penny LaFave on August 30, 1970. They moved onto the family farm west of Herreid. They raised four children on the dairy/beef farm. Aldine enjoyed hunting, Square dancing, card club and horses. He also enjoyed fixing up old wagons and horse equipment with his dad. After retiring from farming he took up the skill of wood working. He built various gifts for his children and grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoyed attending the kids' and grandkids' activities. Aldine had the opportunity to travel with family; they visited Washington DC and took an Alaskan Cruise.

Along with being a member of the Herreid Baptist Church he was involved in the community. He served on the school board for fifteen years, was on the elevator board for six years, was a member of the Campbell Co. Rodeo club for nineteen years and was a county commissioner for six years. Aldine enjoyed singing in a men's quartet and a double quartet for numerous years.

Aldine is survived by his wife of 51 years, Penny of Herreid; his children, Heidi (Cordell) Meidinger of Herreid, Sherri (Steve) Haak of Hague, ND, Tracy Mittleider (Tony Zacher) of Strasburg, ND and John (Ann) Mittleider of Mercer, ND; grandchildren, Devonia, Tegan, LaNae, Pausha and Gavin Meidinger, Shyla, Sawyer, and Shonda Haak, Anton and Ava Zacher, Colt, Shay and Gage Mittleider; siblings, Dennis Mittleider, Larry (Patty) Mittleider and Bonnie (Dennis) Quaschnick. He was preceded in death by his parents; Walter and Leah; parents-in-law, Raymond and Arlouine LaFave; and sister-in-law, Virginia Mittleider.
