Aileen Ann (Brockamp) Stavnes was born to Frank and Margaret (Hanken) Brockamp on September 5, 1922 in Timber Lake, SD. In 1932, the family moved to Ossian, IA. Aileen graduated from St. Francis de Sales in June 1941. After graduation, she worked as a telephone operator with Northwestern Bell. On June 28, 1946 she married the love of her life, Sig, and moved to Timber Lake, SD. There they raised their four boys and made their home. She was devoted to her faith and loved praying the Rosary and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. Aileen was an active member of Holy Cross Altar Society. She served as sacristan for 22 years at Holy Cross Church. She was an aide at Little Oak School for two years and an aide for remedial reading and math for 20 years at Timber Lake School. Aileen loved to crochet, play cards, and most of all spend time with her family and friends.
Aileen is survived by her four sons – Joe and Judy Stavnes of Fort Collins, CO, Guy and Diane of Helena, MT, Mark and Nora of Casper, WY, and George and Heidi of Spokane, WA; grandchildren – Shawn and Andy Willson, Jodi Fullmer, Michele and Scott Bullock, Ryan Stavnes, Kim Lawton, Kelsey and John Tooley, Tyler Stavnes, and Connor Stavnes; 8 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Aileen was preceded in death by her husband, Sig, her parents, one infant daughter, her brother, Julius Brockamp, her sisters, Ida Quinn and Sister Margaret Francis, adopted sisters Hilaria and Irene, and two grandsons, Noah and Jeremy Stavnes.
Words cannot justify or describe Aileen's abundant faith, her extreme love for her family and friends, and just her own pure goodness. Aileen had a smile and a prayer for everyone.
A big thank you to the Walworth County Care Center for loving and providing excellent care for her these last ten months.
