Funeral services for Walburga Zambo, 88, of Selby will be at 10 AM, Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge. Burial will be at 3 PM MT, at Black Hills National Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Walburga passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the Avera Oahe Manor Care Center in Gettysburg.
A. Walburga Zambo was born on September 2, 1935, to John and Elizabeth (Biernbaum) Vetch in Roscoe. She grew up and attended school in Roscoe.
On February 26, 1952, she married Walter Zambo at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Roscoe. Following their marriage, they made their home on the family farm. In 1962, Walter and Walburga purchased the farm from his father. She resided there until 2020 when she moved into the Oahe Manor in Gettysburg.
Walburga made cakes and did floral arrangements for over 30 years out of her house. She also had a large garden every year at the farm. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Selby where she was involved in teaching CCD and altar society.
She is survived by three sons, David of Watertown, SD, DeWayne (Sheila) Zambo of Java, SD, and Scott Zambo of Selby, two daughters, Diane (Bill) McDaniel of Phillip, SD, and Sheila Mae (Tom Laret) Westfall, of Chugiak, AK, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Walter, grandson, Brian Zambo, six sisters, and four brothers.
