Mass of Christian Burial for Roy Linderman, age 84, of Timber Lake will be 10 AM, MT Friday, November 2, 2012 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Timber Lake, SD. Burial will be at the Timber Lake Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge, SD. Visitation is at the church Thursday at 6 PM, MT with a prayer service at 7. Roy passed away October 29, 2012 at Mobridge Regional Hospital in Mobridge.
Roy was born west of Isabel in Ziebach County on October 1, 1928 the youngest of two children of Albert and Lizzie (Klingman) Linderman. When Roy was one year old, the house burned down and the family moved to a house south of Firesteel.
Roy attended the Cundill School. He graduated in 1943 from grade school and in 1947 from Isabel High School. Roy attended Black Hills Teachers College for one year, after which he was drafted into the Army in 1951 during the Korean War. He also spent one year in Japan. He was discharged in 1953.
Roy went to work for Moreau Grand Electric Cooperative in 1953 as a lineman. He took one year away from that job to become partners with Wallace Wortman in the ownership of Timber Lake Motors. He then went back to Moreau Grand, was promoted to Operation Superintendent and retired in July 1989.
Roy married Cecelia Schweitzer on August 2, 1954 in Glencross, SD.
Roy is survived by his wife Cecelia of Timber Lake, seven children LeRoy (Larissa) Linderman of Timber Lake, SD, Neil Linderman of Pierre, SD, Mark Linderman of Baker City, OR, Lyle (Pat) Linderman of Presho, SD, Jan (Deb) Linderman of Timber Lake, SD, Colette (Mitch) Enright of Timber Lake, SD and Nikki (Marlin) Larson of Lincoln, ND, brother Warren (Marge) Linderman of Washington, 20 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 2 more great grandchildren on the way.
He is preceded in death by his parents Albert and Lizzie.
