Memorial service for John Muse, age 64, of Mobridge will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 16, 2011 at the United Congregational Church in Mobridge. Rev. Keith Kraft officiating. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion of Mobridge. Prayer services will be Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Kesling Funeral Home. John passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.
John was born March 27, 1947 at Great Bend, Kansas to Walter and Hazel Muse he moved with his parents at the age of 6 months to Seattle Washington. He graduated from the Sealth High School in 1965 and attended Highline College for one year. He entered the United States Army in 1966 serving one tour of duty in Vietnam where he received a Purple Heart and was honorably discharged in 1969.
John was a Police Officer with the Seattle Police Department for 29 years retiring in 2002. He coached Pee Wee Little League Baseball for a number of years while in Seattle.
He married Brenda Bauder on April 14, 1993 in Reno, NV. He and Brenda moved from Seattle to Mobridge in October 2002.
John enjoyed going fishing with his friends to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, spending time in Reno, Nevada. He enjoyed going out to ocean shores and getting homemade fudge, and having coffee with the gang at the Senior Center. John also enjoyed watching Pawn Stars on TV.
He was a member of the First Eagle's Club in the United States, a member of the Seattle Police Officers Guild, and a member of the UCC Church of Mobridge.
He is survived by his wife Brenda of Mobridge, daughter Brandy Buffaloe - Muse (Nash Shillingstad) of Mobridge, brother Bob Muse of Grand, Washington, sister Peggy Treichler of Bremerton, Washington, mother-in-law Shirley Bauder of Mobridge, brother-in-law David (Karen) Bauder of Federal Way, Washington, sister-in-law Carol (Bob) Hartz of Yuma, Arizona, and Annette Bauder of Tacoma, Washington, niece Amber Faux (Les Mondy) and great nephew Carson Mondy all of Lacey Washington.
He is preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law Walter Bauder.
